How to improve memory to improve study skills

improve memory

Many of us suffer from memory problems, whether it’s short-term memory blips, like misplacing your house keys or forget the long-term information such as the name of someone. When it comes to studying, some tools are powerful or effective as robust memory. If your faulty memory jeopardizes your studies, do not stress. The following steps can help to strengthen the capacity of your brain to store information.

Instruction

1) Create a workout routine for the brain doing activities that stimulate mental functioning. Activities, like learning a new language or a musical instrument or completing a crossword puzzle, can increase the availability of your brain to memorize.

2) They evoke memorable, vivid images when studying new information so that your brain will be better to keep the main ideas. For example, if you want to remember that “Coach”, you could imagine a baseball coach standing on top of a car.

3) Repeat important information (aloud, in writing, to yourself) several times until you have no trouble remembering that. The more you think, feel or do something, the more it will stick.

4) Eat foods with antioxidants such as blueberries, broccoli, and spinach, foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as flaxseed, walnuts and salmon. These types of nutrients seem to do for the functioning of the healthy brain.

5) Try the natural supplements of vitamin E, thiamin and vitamin B-6, all of which are said to promote mental functioning.

6) Keep your stress levels by practicing breathing, yoga or other soothing activities. If you suffer from chronic stress, consult a doctor as soon as possible. Regular stress wears down the brain’s ability to remember.

Tips:

Getting a good night’s sleep as often as possible, as this has a significant impact in the short term the brain and long-term memory. Commit to memorizing new information on a regular basis, even if you struggle to keep the information at first. When it comes to training your memory, practice makes perfect.

Consult a doctor if you notice a sudden or extreme decline in your memory, as it could be a sign of a serious illness. Avoid drinking alcohol excessively (more than three or four drinks in one sitting), because this harmful habit has been shown to reduce the memory capacity in the short term of the brain. Not all herbal supplements that claim to improve memory are actually effective. While some may really help the functioning of the brain, there is no proven evidence to support these claims.
