Exploring County Cavan – The Shannon Pot and Cuilcagh Mountain

If you are thinking of getting away from it all this summer, Cavan, the county town of Cavan and although not a bustling metropolis has everything that you will need for your break, from places to stay to shops like Vodafone Cavan https://kingcommunications.ie/vodafone-stores-near-me/cavan/

If you are looking for a place that is perfect to be able to explore the natural beauty of Ireland’s landscapes this is the place for you. It is also near to one of the most important natural landmarks in Ireland – the source of the river Shannon, locally known as the Shannon Pot.

This natural pool is the source of Ireland’s longest river, and there are some beautiful walking trails that you can enjoy in the area where you can explore the natural beauty of pool and its surroundings, as it starts its course on its 360-kilometre journey (it is in fact the longest river in the British Isles) on its way to the Shannon Estuary.

If you enjoy a challenging walk, it is near to the Cuilcagh mountain – follow the boardwalk trail to the top of the mountain, which has been named the stairway to heaven. From the top you get fantastic views across both county Cavan and County Fermanagh which is the county that the mountain lies on the border of.

The walk to the top takes approximately two hours, and along the way the views that you will enjoy are nothing short of spectacular.
