Hollywood Films With A Log Cabin

You might be amazed to know just how many Hollywood movies feature log cabins as the background for their stories. Although often used in horror stories due to their remoteness, log cabins also play an integral part of comedies, romances, family films and thrillers – it appears Hollywood just loves log cabins! And if you feel like snuggling up and getting into the festive spirit with some log cabin movies, here are just a few examples.

Secret Window (2004)

This film was inspired by Stephen King’s novella of the same name. Johnny Depp plays an author who suffers a psychotic episode after discovering that his wife has an affair. Seeking refuge, he retreats into the woods for rest and solitude – however things turn bizarre quickly! This psychological thriller features breathtaking lakeside cabins as the setting. Leave Her to Heaven (1945)

A lakeside dwelling features prominently in this colour movie and it is one of the most breathtaking ever used on screen. Set in Maine, this lakeside abode boasts an extensive outdoor decking area surrounded by dense woods. However, this film noir introduces us to an unapologetic femme fatale who leaves heartbreak in her wake; Gene Tierney and Vincent Price star.

The Edge (1997)

An action survival movie featuring big names Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins. Though not one of their best efforts, this still deserves watching due to two breathtaking cabins used for photoshoots at the start of the film and later as shelter when Baldwin and Hopkins find themselves trapped in an Arctic environment.
