As for 2020, it was predicted that there will be more online-based dance trends because people prefer real-life experiences rather than sitting silently in a theater to enjoy a performance. Celebrity dances
It is no surprise that the most viral dance trends were kickstarted by celebrities. The first example that comes to mind is the “Futsal Shuffle” popularized by rapper Lil Uzi Vert. The rapper predicted that the dance would “take over 2020”, which is not very far from the truth. There’s also the “Yummy” dance that started after the release of Justin Bieber’s new single “Yummy”. These types of dance movements are groovy and easy to replicate, so it’s no wonder that Tik Tokers transformed them into grand routines and prolonged their popularity on the Internet.
Dancing online on St Patrick’s Day
There was also a different type of trend that took the internet by storm in March. It was an online trend started by a professional Irish dancer in order to celebrate this year’s St. Patrick’s Day. Celebrations were canceled all around the world and since the traditional dance was a big part of these celebrations, Irish dancers were left with no choice but to show off their Irish dance shoes online. The intention was to bring the worldwide community of Irish dancers together during these difficult times and allow people to enjoy the magic of this holiday from behind their computer screens and even join in on the fun.
Tik Tok dances
Speaking of Tik Tok – this is the main hotspot of dancing trends in 2020. There is, for example, the “Renegade” dance trend created by a 14-year-old dancer. It was the biggest dance craze for some time. There was also the #SomethingNewChallenge which inspired many creative renditions on Tik Tok. There are some dance moves that are very easy to do, such as the “Say So” dance, and there are some that are more complex, such as the “Cannibal” dance. The most important thing is that people are having fun doing them and watching them.
